Long Rake Spar were very impressed with the refurbishment of the pretty external area at one of Hertford College’s oldest buildings, the Old Hall.

In September, SureSet Approved Installer Lockwood Landscapes Ltd put the perfect finishing touch to Old Buildings Quadrangle (OB Quad) communal outside area.

The challenge with this project was to marry modern conveniences such as permeability, low-maintenance and durability with the traditional look of the beautiful building.

Specialising in hard and soft landscaping, and with more than 15 years’ experience designing and installing landscapes within the educational sector, Lockwood Landscapes were more than qualified to fulfil this brief.

They installed a 450m² resin bound pathway around the OB Quad in Norwegian Pearl which sat in perfect harmony with the historic Old Hall. The aggregates for the pathway were sourced from Long Rake Spar as their wide product selection ensures they have a stone to match all aesthetics.

Skilfully installed, this SureSet footpath delivers a durable, accessible, low-maintenance surface that, with a little care, will last as long as 25 years.

Located on Catte Street, Hertford College is part of the University of Oxford and is where the ‘first years’ live. While the history of Hertford College can be traced back to the 1280’s, the present college dates from 1874.
